Last summer one of our members Jack Hampton embarked on an epic journey the length of the Canadian west coast. As Jack and his team traversed the wild coastline, they produced an adventure and sustainability film documenting the journey, featuring interviews with local people about how climate change and the green transition has affected the lives and livelihoods of those living in coastal communities. The film aims to capture these challenges and identify solutions relevant to coastal communities in the UK.
Jack Hampton grew up in Barnstaple and learnt to paddle with Bideford Canoe Club. The North Devon coast and North Devon kayakers played a central role in the team’s training as they prepared to take on an epic unsupported paddle down the whole west coast of Canada using folding skin-on-frame kayaks.
The film, “Paddling the Margins”, is now complete, and the premiere is screening on Thursday 12th October at Scott Cinema, Barnstaple.
Please come from 7.30pm to grab a drink in the bar before the screening begins at 8pm. The film is 1 hour long and followed by a Q&A session with members of the expedition and film making team.
