The Roadford weekend, Torridge BBQ, and Tiverton Canal would be great for all craft.  The Exeter trip for canoes, sea kayaks and tourers is probably not an option for small kayaks as it’s quite a long way.

  • Sea Kayak Programme 2025

Below is a list of sea kayaking activities the Club hopes to run in 2025 Also below are some ideas of external providers you might want to follow up. Dates Activity Aimed at Lead Over the winter Club Moderate/advanced day trips Those keen enough PT/SM/MM 18May Club Intro to sea kayaking Anyone interested PT 22 May onwards For six evening sessions Club Sea kayaking training towards Sea Kayak Award Standard Relative beginners, some experience needed. PT/MM/SM Late June Club trip to Brittany Invitation PT July and August Club Weekend day trips, an overnight, weekends away Easy/moderate/advanced See Forum 3-10 September Club trip to Pembrokeshire Moderate/advanced PT/MM   For people new to sea kayaking, the offer is the Intro Day in May. Then ‘easy’ day trips as conditions allow. The six week course aims to bring your standard up to be a competent group member on a moderate level trip For more experienced paddlers, there will be moderate level day trips, plus a weekend away in July, probably to Cornwall. Plus individual access to the Channel Training events, symposiums and meets listed. (See below) With more confidence and skill, members frequently form peer groups and arrange small group trips. The Pembroke trip in September will need paddling fitness and confidence in choppy water for some excellent moderate level trips. For advanced paddlers, everything is possible. We hope to do at least one Lundy crossing, plus the Brittany adventure. Help and encouragement is always available for sea kayaking awards.  Commercial providers (there are many, but we know these) Date Activity Level Contact 3-5 May Anglesey Sea Symposium Moderate/advanced Sea KayakingUK 16-18 May ‘Springboard to Summer’ Dorset weekend festival Individual booking Channel Training 29 May-1 June Women’s Sea Kayak Festival Intromediate/Advanced See Google. • New Guidance on Maintaining Training and CPD

A new guidance document has been added to the website in the Guidance Section of the document library providing Guidance on Maintaining Training and CPD . It is important that our coaches and leaders not only hold British Canoeing qualifications but also ensure that their validity of their qualifications is maintained by ensuring that they are current On the Water Members of British Canoeing and that their safeguarding, CPD and First Aid certifications are up to date. To make this as easy as possible Guidance on Maintaining Training and CPD has been published on the website to provide easy access to a host of learning resources.
