With all the expected rain, rivers may be high by Saturday. If not, then a trip on the Taw is suggested. Collaton Bridge to Umberleigh is good value. Quite a long paddle but the rivers moves well. Scenery is great and wildlife can be glimpsed if there isn’t too much chatter. Skill levels don’t need to be high but you must be able to control your boat and avoid trees etc. It’s likely to be cooler than of late, so warm clothing (wetsuit and cag or drysuit) recommended. Put the shorts away now. Numbers may be limited by how many leaders/assistants come forward. Club boats and kit can be available if booked in advance. It will help if you can collect and transport but it can be delivered.
Plan B, if the river is too high, will be an introduction to moving water, so we will ‘park and play’ at one spot. We should know by Friday evening. Check your mail before setting off!
