What We Offer
The club has a lot to offer to existing paddlers or those wishing to learn to paddle. You can find out a little more below about the sort of things we do as a club and what we might be able to offer to you.
Paddling and Trips
The club has an active and varied trip and paddling programme. You’ll find members out on flat water touring some beautiful estuaries and rivers, paddling white water of all grades both on our local rivers and further afield, at the local beaches surfing and out exploring the coast in sea kayaks.
Pool Sessions
The club holds regular pool sessions throughout the winter at West Buckland School. The sessions offer the opportunity for our beginner members to get to grips with the basics or for more experienced paddlers to hone those skills.
Access to Boats and Equipment
The club has a wide selection of boats and equipment which are available for our members to hire (for a nominal charge). Unfortunately, we cant hire out our equipment to non members. The fleet mainly consisting of a range of white water kayaks, however alongside this the club can offer a range of other boats including open ‘canadian’ canoes, sea kayaks and a surf wave ski. There is also a range of kayaks and equipment available to suit the younger paddlers. We can also offer access to the other equipment you are likely to need to get started including paddles, spray decks, buoyancy aids and helmets.
Coaching, Supervision and Training
We are fortunate to have many experienced paddlers within the club with a number of qualified coaches and river leaders. As such we are able to put on a varied programme of paddling including a progressive white water programme and structured courses such as that following the BCU 2 Star Syllabus. Whatever the trip you are sure to find an experienced paddler who will be willing to give you help and advice.
Socials
There is also an active social scene with summer barbecues and other activities such as finding a new adrenaline rush at the Ultimate High ropes course. The club holds regular meetings and all members are welcome to come along and get involved.
