New Guidance on Maintaining Training and CPD

A new guidance document has been added to the website in the Guidance Section of the document library providing Guidance on Maintaining Training and CPD . It is important that our coaches and leaders not only hold British Canoeing qualifications but also ensure that their validity of their qualifications is maintained by ensuring that they are current On the Water Members of British Canoeing and that their safeguarding, CPD and First Aid certifications are up to date. To make this as easy as possible Guidance on Maintaining Training and CPD has been published on the website to provide easy access to a host of learning resources.
2023 Training Courses

Booking a course. Club membership is a prerequisite for booking a course as this provides third party insurance cover. A reduced fee of £25 will be charged. Intermediate Sea Kayaking course: Previous sea kayaking experience is essential for this course A six week course on Thursday evenings on the water at 7pm-9pm over the following dates: April 20, 27 May 4, 11, 17, 25 Cost: £45 plus £5 boat hire per session. Locations TBC weekly based on tides and weather Introduction to Sea kayaking day: Participants must have previous paddling experience in a river kayak Saturday 17th June 10:00-16:00 Cost: £15 plus £7 boat hire. Location: TBC Beginners Kayak course: No previous paddling experience necessary 1st session: Wednesday 24th May at West Buckland pool to practise wet exits and the basics 2nd session: Sunday 4th June at Tamar Lake 3rd session: Saturday 10th June on the River Torridge, Bideford Cost: £55 which includes Tamar Lakes launching fees and equipment hire. You will then be sent a more detailed email re booking on etc. Please note that if you wish to join a course and are not already a member of the club then you will need to join for insurance purposes.
Hiring Club Equipment 🙁

BCC regrets that we are unable to offer club trips or hire out our kayaks to the general public. We are not a business and therefore do not have the requisite insurance or paid coaching staff to do so. However, if you are interested in trying out kayaking, two of our members are qualified coaches and run their own kayaking business.
